The Online Compendium of Federal and State Regulations for U.S. Nonprofit Organizations site provides information about the laws and regulations controlling nonprofit organizations in the U.S. Examples: lobbying and political activity, financial accounting, planned giving, postal discounts and much more. The Nonprofit Best Practice Guide provides key information designed to help manage nonprofit organizations efficiently and effectively. Follow links to ten topic areas to find articles, standards of practice, resources and glossaries. Go to www.nonprofitbasics.org/

Board Source claims to be the premier resource for building strong and effective nonprofit boards – and it is! Publications, an extensive glossary of governance and nonprofit management terms, training resources and more. Go to www.boardsource.org.

The Charity Channel offers nine free e-newsletters, over 150 email discussion groups, information on jobs, consultants, products and services of interest to nonprofits professionals.  Go to charitychannel.com.

The Financial Management Training Center offers free web based courses on a broad range of financial management topics. Courses are downloaded to your computer by clicking on the hyperlinks on the opening webpage. Short Courses come in three formats: Microsoft Word documents, pdf files (requires Acrobat Reader) and exe files (self-extracting file). The
SNPO Resource Center a comprehensive list of websites compiled by the Society of Nonprofit Organizations. The list covers a wide range of topics related to the nonprofit sector.  Find new resources for funding information, look for new volunteers, learn about the latest technology available to nonprofits and much more. NPAction is an online resource that supports capacity building for nonprofit advocacy by collecting the best practices of seasoned advocates and engaging newcomers with a wide range of updated topics and tools. Go to www.npaction.org.

The Community Tool Box is created and maintained by the Work Group on Health Promotion and Community Development at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas (U.S.A). The core of the Tool Box is the "topic sections" that include practical guidance for the different tasks necessary to promote community health and development. For instance, there are sections on leadership, strategic planning, community assessment, grant writing, and evaluation to give just a few examples.
